The challenge for Estia was to reposition the venue and redefine its identity — all within a limited budget. The goal was to transform the space into a family-friendly restaurant that would invite people of all ages to come together, connect, and share a meal in comfort.
To achieve this, we reorganized the seating layout to encourage communal dining and reinvent the way families and friends gather around the table. New design elements were introduced, such as olive trees and cozy gathering areas inspired by the Greek plateia — the traditional village square that serves as a social heart of the community.
We also added two minimalist metal structures, shaped like house archetypes, evoking the feeling of home and symbolizing togetherness. These subtle architectural gestures create a sense of intimacy and familiarity, encouraging guests to feel connected within the space.
Lighting played a crucial role in redefining the atmosphere. We replaced the existing fixtures with flowing, curved neon strips and wall-mounted lamps that emit a warm, inviting glow — creating a soft, luminous ambiance that supports the overall concept of comfort and warmth.
To further enhance the family-friendly identity, we introduced the timeless stories of Aesop. His fables are now subtly woven into the experience — illustrated as wall stickers and printed on paper placemats — sparking the imagination of both young and older visitors. Rendered in pastel, earthy tones, these illustrations harmonize with the existing color palette and complete the storytelling environment.
Each element has been thoughtfully curated to express what Estia truly represents in the Greek language: the center of the home — a symbol of warmth, family, and domestic life.
